The B2B Quality Control Checklist for Clothing Stocklots
Don't risk your capital. Learn the essential 5-point inspection guide to ensure your bulk apparel purchase meets Grade-A retail standards.

Buying Smart: Quality Control in the Liquidation Market
In the world of stocklot wholesale, the price is always attractive, but quality is where the real profit lies. To help our global buyers minimize risk, we’ve compiled the ultimate inspection checklist before you commit to a “Take-All” deal.
1. Fabric Consistency & Handfeel
Overstock often comes from cancelled export orders. It is crucial to verify that the fabric weight (GSM) matches the original specifications. For cotton knits, ensure there is no excessive pilling or “dead stock” odor from long-term warehouse storage.
2. Size Ratio Verification
A common pitfall in bulk apparel is a “broken size run.”
- The Ideal Ratio: 1:2:2:1 (S:M:L:XL).
- Always ask for a detailed packing list to ensure you aren’t stuck with a lot consisting only of XS or 3XL sizes, which are harder to move in certain markets.
3. Stitching & Seam Integrity
Turn the garment inside out. Professional Grade-A stock should have clean overlock stitching with no loose threads or skipped stitches. Pay close attention to high-stress areas like armpits and crotch seams.
4. Branding & Labeling Compliance
Are the labels intact? Some stocklots require “de-branding” (removing original brand tags) due to legal agreements. Ensure you know whether the goods come with original hangtags or if they are “cut-label” items.
5. Packaging Condition
Properly managed stock should be individually poly-bagged. This protects the garments from moisture and dust during sea freight, ensuring they are retail-ready the moment they arrive at your warehouse.
Our Promise: At EcoStocklots, every lot undergoes a mandatory 3rd-party inspection before listing, so you can buy with total confidence.
